Europe’s schools, rail networks and hospitals are at breaking point. Governments across Europe lack the funds needed to turn things around. While many face run down classrooms, delayed trains and queues in crowded hospitals there’s a solution the super rich don’t want anyone to talk about: increasing taxes on their wealth.

But together, we got everyone in Brussels talking about it! We landed an inflatable jet right in front of the European Parliament. Grabbing headlines and gathering support from politicians. [1] Together with Oxfam and Avaaz we spoke to more than 30 MEPs who came to see the plane and voiced their support to tax the super rich.

We were only able to pull this off thanks to people from this community chipping in together. The euros supporters poured in to make this happen had a massive impact. It added up to the thousands we needed to get this stunt off the ground.

But our work doesn't end here. We’re gearing up to supercharge this campaign in the lead up to the European Parliamentary elections this June and beyond.

Right now, the richest 1% is hoarding half of all financial wealth in Europe and their lavish lifestyles are turbocharging the climate crisis. Yet they barely pay any tax. [2] By not taxing the EU’s richest, Europe is missing nearly 300 billion euros every year. That’s 33 million per hour that could go to finance teachers, trains and nurses. [3]

Together we’ve shown that pulling off an eye-catching stunt, at just the right moment, can have a major impact. We secured headlines in major newspapers and locked-in support from key politicians.

Everything we did was made possible — and funded — by people like you. When we decided to land an inflatable jet outside of the European parliament, we turned to this community. And supporters, just like you, responded in their thousands. By each chippint a few euros they made sure we could move fast and deliver a huge moment with real impact.

But we still have a long way to go until we land this new tax on the super rich.
