WeMove Europe is an independent and values-based organisation that seeks to build people power to transform Europe in the name of our community, future generations and the planet. We are people from all walks of life, who call Europe our home – whether we were born in Europe or elsewhere.

Our job is to mobilise the 950,000+ WeMove members across Europe on issues that matter - including the climate emergency, immigration, workers rights, better governance, and more. We know this number of people also needs to grow and diversify so we can represent a critical mass across Europe. 

Our staff are rooted in many countries. We connect digitally every day and in person occasionally as well.

About the role

You will be part of the campaigns team and will work closely with the senior campaigners working on climate, the Polish senior campaigner and other country senior campaigners depending on the actions. 

This would be a role based in Poland, to be rooted in the key climate blocker country, but will be a 'roaming' role i.e. you would go where energy is needed; to other CEECs, to Germany during key moments of the Presidency, to Brussels and beyond. You will be responsible for designing and delivering offline as well as digital actions and stunts that are tailored to the moment.

Your tasks will include:
  • Developing a broad alliance of activists and grassroots movements in CEE countries working to push for climate action at the EU level;

  • Working with those movements and local activists especially in countries blocking progress towards ambitious climate policy in the European Union, with a focus on Poland and other countries in the region to do stunts and other disruptive and creative actions to raise awareness and create the space for action at the European level;

  • Organising high profile actions in countries that champion progressive climate policy, depending on the opportunities that arise; 

  • Working hand in hand with senior campaigners to translate EU level campaigning asks into national asks and vice versa,

  • Supporting online mobilisation of our community and that of the alliance (social media actions, digital rallies, call in actions, etc); 

  • Evaluating learnings and best practices and sharing with the team.

About you

You are able to think and do, strategise and deliver. You love being part of fast-paced campaigning for a better Europe. You are tech-savvy and able to set up an online campaign but can also organise a petition delivery, a media stunt and you

  • Have experience organising offline actions (deliveries, stunts, demonstrations);

  • Have experience working with grassroots movements;

  • Have experience with climate and social justice campaigning; 

  • Have experience with online campaigning; 

  • Are passionate about the causes we campaign on;

  • Are a good communicator, you love working with partners; 

  • Have very good writing skills; 

  • Are committed to accuracy, while working in a fast-paced environment;

  • Have cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with an international team;

  • Are happy with significant travel in Europe and occasional flexible working hours;

  • Have a collaborative working style.

Languages:

  • You are fluent in Polish and fluent enough in English that you can work in an English-speaking environment (communicate with your fellow WeMove Europe staff members and partners).

  • We have a strong preference for candidates who can work in multiple European languages especially those we communicate in (Spanish, German, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Dutch) and/or Czech, Slovak, Hungarian or other Eastern European languages.

  • Working with social media; 

  • Training, facilitation;

  • Non-violent direct action;

  • Advocacy, social change work;

  • Working in a distributed campaign team where all team members work remotely.

Terms and conditions

This is a one-year full-time contract (40 hours/week) to start as soon as possible, ideally by July. 

The role will be based in Poland and will include significant travel in Europe.

As we are building a virtual organisation, this position will be based at a home office or co-working space of your choice. We offer a competitive salary within the sector.
