Our job is to mobilise a community of almost a million people across Europe on issues that matter - including the climate emergency, migrant rights, workers rights, better governance, and more. We know this number of people also needs to grow and diversify further so we can represent a strong critical mass that can bring about change in Europe. 

We work with staff in 10 countries who connect digitally every day and in person periodically.

About the role

We want to considerably increase our use of social media tools to drive forward our campaigns. As a first step, we are hiring a full-time social media manager to help develop and implement a new strategy with a focus on community growth, engagement and storytelling. We’re a fairly small team, and you’ll be fully integrated to collaborate directly with people across it. But we will also trust you to make judgements and publish independently. 

Your tasks will include:
  • Developing and implementing our social media strategy across channels including our strategy to extend those tools (Facebook, Twitter, others tbc)

  • Audience/Community engagement and growth (mostly members focused...remainder of time on other stakeholders incl decision makers, journalists, foundations, partners, contractors etc) 

  • Lead on creating and managing engaging content content to be published on our social media channels 

  • Working on building strong compelling stories and framing of messaging to engage people in progressive change efforts through social media

  • Supporting our digital fundraising efforts via social media 

  • Generating ideas and recommendations for using social media to meet our campaigning,fundraising, and growth targets;

  • Curating other content provided by campaigners. 

  • Developing and managing our social media advertising plan and budget;

  • Implementing advertising campaigns; Providing insight and improvements based on performance.

  • Analysing and reporting performance of our social media channels;

  • Defining our social media strategy across channels and audiences, and integrating it with wider user journeys in close cooperation with our tech team;

  • Monitoring and researching new trends in social media tools, channels, design, and strategy & preparing the case for new social media channels to invest in;

  • Evaluating learnings and best practices through that strategy & sharing with the team.

  • Working with one senior campaigner from the team on developing better frames and stories towards narrative shift; 

About you

You are able to think and do, strategise and deliver. You love being part of fast-paced campaigning for a better Europe and can also think about the bigger strategic picture.

  • Passionate about the causes we campaign on;

  • A good values fit with WeMove Europe 

  • At least 3-5 years of professional social media experience, with a demonstrable record of using social media to build supporter engagement and growth;

  • Excellent social media instincts, with an ability to tap into current trends to engage people;

  • Solid experience gathering and analysing social media data;

  • Knowledgeable about story-telling, framing and narratives; 

  • Commitment to accuracy, while working in a fast-paced environment;

  • A collaborative working style;

  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with an international team;

  • Are happy with significant travel in Europe and occasional flexible working hours;

Languages:

  • Can work publicly (do social media posting) in English plus ideally one one of our working languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian or Polish) 

Bonus experiences :

  • **Basic graphic design / photo editing. Experience with tools like Canva, Affinity or Adobe products.**

  • Basic video editing 

  • Comfortable live streaming and doing reportage at events and protests.

  • Good with data analysis and spreadsheets.

  • Experience with campaigning, advocacy, social change work and/or organising.

Terms and conditions

This is a one-year contract (32 hours/week) to start as soon as possible, ideally by July. 

As we are building a virtual organisation, this position will be based at a home office or co-working space of your choice. We offer a competitive salary within the sector.
