Donations Accountant (part time)

WeMove Europe is a citizens’ movement, campaigning for a better Europe; for a European Union committed to social and economic justice, environmental sustainability and citizen-led democracy. We are people from all walks of life, who call Europe our home – whether we were born in Europe or elsewhere. (From our mission statement).

About us

WeMove Europe is a recently launched, European online campaigning organisation in the spirit of the amazing work done by our friends at Campact.de in Germany and 38Degrees.org.uk in the UK. Our goal is to respond to the crisis of European democracy with creative online campaigning.

More information about our project can be found on: http://wemove.eu/wemove.pdf.

Having launched in September 2015 with great success (820 000 members so far), we are now focused on continuing our fast growth – and we are looking for Donations Accountant (part time).

About the role

Your job is to assist our Finance Director taking over accounting tasks linked to small donor management and in-house bookkeeping of small donor related donations. The role is a great opportunity to learn about an international progressive movement and sustainability model of online campaigning organisations.

You would be joining a team of dedicated activists located all over Europe e.g. in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and UK.

You would ideally be based in Poland, Romania or Slovenia, all of which are countries where we already have staff, but other EU countries are possible, too. Best would be in one of the cities where another WeMove Europe staff member is based.

Your tasks will include:

  • Managing the donations@wemove.eu mail account and communication regarding small donors’ requests

  • Managing accounting of donations arriving to the bank accounts of WeMove Europe

  • Alerting Campaigners to special high donations

  • Managing SEPA selections and payments, including monitoring of donor data and file uploads to the bank

  • Managing donations in CiviCRM, ensuring that the CRM data is up to date, accurate and organised appropriately

  • Communicating via e-mail with senior campaigners and campaign assistants

  • Providing donor data reports for Finance Director and Chief Fundraiser

  • Setting up and managing FQAs donation pages

About you

You are well organised and reliable, you like working with tables and numbers. You pay attention to detail and are not shy in answering emails and engage in communication with a variety of people, like donors, WeMove staff members and others through different means and in different languages. You share our values and want to support our political goals and campaigns.

Your skills:

  • Prior experience with (donor) accountancy work

  • High level of tech-savviness, being very comfortable with web-based CRM systems.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English (B2-C1 level)

  • Intermediate spoken and written German (B1-B2 level)

  • Excellent command of Excel

  • Attention to detail and extreme diligence with documentation

  • Very good in grasping IT novelties

Additionally, the following skills / experiences would be a plus:

  • Prior experience with accounting software is a big plus

  • Command of additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian, Polish...) is an important plus

Terms and conditions

The position is part time (20 h/week) on a permanent contract with six months’ probation, starting in September/October 2017. There is no specific requirement for the location of the job, however, we prefer a city where another WeMove staff member is already situated.

Salary will be calculated based on German public service (“In Anlehnung an TVöD 10.”) and appropriated for local competitive wage and cost of living. You will get 30 paid vacation days in a calendar year.

In order to enhance the diversity of our team we encourage applicants of all origins and diverse backgrounds. We do not share the implicit belief that people in online campaigning start-ups necessarily have to be very young and encourage also people who left their twenties and thirties behind to apply, including those caring for small children.

How to apply

If you are interested in this position, please send an application in English no later than midnight on 31 August 2017 to jobs@wemove.eu (max. 10 MB). Please include:

  • Motivation letter in English. Please provide references.

  • CV. Including your language skills in your first language, English and other languages according to a scale from A1 to C2.

  • relevant samples of your work (if applicable)

Any questions can be directed to jobs@wemove.eu.
